The Kelly Considine Scholarship was established in January 2013 in honor of Kelly Ann Considine who lost her 7-year battle with breast cancer. Kelly was a loving, caring, and beautiful yoga teacher who dedicated her life to helping others. She helped those with cancer grow strong, find courage, and heal through yoga. She dedicated her life to helping others and touched hundreds of lives. Along with The Retreat Project’s founder, Tari Prinster, Kelly also helped develop the yoga4cancer program. Throughout all her struggles, Kelly moved gracefully and remained a warrior. It is in this vein that the Kelly Considine Scholarship was created.
Two different type of scholarship will be awarded based on candidates’ applications that best reflect Kelly’s life:
1) The Cancer Warrior Scholarship will be awarded to a current cancer patient or survivor to help fund classes, a retreat or other yoga services. This scholarship can be used at any yoga studio, training facility, or provider – subject to approval from the Kelly Considine Scholarship Committee. Up to $1000 for 1 year.
2) The Yoga Teacher Scholarship will be awarded to a yoga teacher to help fund further education, training, or other costs associated with obtaining special training to help cancer patients and/or survivors through yoga or other wellness practice. This scholarship can be used at any yoga studio, training facility, or provider – subject to approval from the Kelly Considine Scholarship Committee. Up to $1000 for 1 year.
The application deadline is April 15, 2013. After which the Scholarship Committee will review all applications and promptly notify recipients.
